What is EPILED Hair Removal?
EPILED is the first high powered LED (light emitting diode) medical device for hair removal. EPILED uses a high-power super emitting LED array with a 9 piece chip as a light source. The crystal guide pyramid shaping and transmission of the NIR (Near-Infrared) beam acts on the subcutaneous melanin in the hair follicle, which absorbs the heat to achieve maximum hair removal effect.
EPILED uses near-infrared light with wavelength of 780-850nm: the minimum amount of light is absorbed into the skin and subcutaneous tissue at this wavelength as its main function is to target the melanin in the hair follicle, thus making the EPILED an effective and relatively pain free treatment. The light spectrum has a greater width compared to other machines making this a safe treatment for a wide range of skin types.
The benefit of EPILED hair removal is that it is a quick, and relatively pain-free treatment. You may feel a sensation like that of an elastic band flicking the skin or a gentle feeling of heat building up in that area during treatment. The areas treated may be red and feel a little sunburnt up to 24 to 48 hours after treatment. Over the next few weeks the hairs that have been treated will fall out. It is advisable to repeat the sessions as the hairs grow back. The hairs on the face, underarms and bikini line generally grow back at around 4 to 6 weeks, whilst the hair on the arms and legs generally grow back at around 8 to 12 weeks. You will require 6 to 8 treatments to achieve up to an 80-90 percent reduction of hair to the area or areas being treated. EPILED has the ability to treat all types of hair colour from dark blond to black.
It is advisable to book an initial consultation to talk about what areas you would like to have treated. If you have been waxing it is beneficial for you to stop waxing and allow the hairs to grow, allowing for all the hairs to be treated in the first session. During that period of growth time, you can trim or shave the areas. It is recommended that you shave the area the night before your EPILED session.
