What are dermal fillers?

Picture
At Simply Skin we use the Restylane and Teoxane range from Galderma. The Restylane range of dermal fillers are formulated to act like your body’s own naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, restoring volume to your skin. These products help smooth away facial wrinkles and skin folds and are non permanent.

The areas that can be treated with dermal fillers are:
  • subtle volume to lips
  • mouth frowns
  • fine lines and wrinkles to the lower mouth area
  • enhance and lift sunken cheeks.

A treatment with dermal fillers does not need to be obvious. With advanced techniques we can achieve subtle rejuvenation to many areas without over filling.
How often should I have treatment?

Most dermal fillers will as long as 9 to 18 months. As Debbie’s approach is gentle, the advice given to all her clients is to go gently on the first session to see how you like to product and the results. You can always add more at a stage comfortable for you. With all dermal filler
procedures it is an individualised approach.
Does it hurt?

The dermal filler has local anaesthetic inside the filler which will numb the areas whilst the procedure is being done. A topical anaesthetic cream will be placed all over
  the area before treatment begins.
What are the side effects of a dermal filler treatment?

You can expect swelling that should settle within 24 hours. The area may feel a little tender to the touch. Bruising can occur: although we try to minimise bruising as much as possible, at times this is unavoidable. Bruising can take up to 2 to 5 days to settle
but can usually be covered effectively with makeup after the first 24 hours.
Debbie will call or message the day after treatment to make sure that all is settling well.
What should I do or not do after treatment with a dermal filler?

  • Please do ice the area for the first 24 hours,
  • You may be advised to take an antihistamine after treatment.
  • Avoid alcohol the night  before and the night of treatment.
  • Please avoid touching the area for the first 24 hours.
  • Please do not partake in any heavy cardio type activity or yoga after treatment. Brisk walking is advised if you feel the need to exercise
  • The following day you may return to your normal schedule of activity.
How long does it take?

Most filler treatments can be done in a 60 minute booking.
Combination filler and botox treatments can be done in a 60-90 minute booking.
